
Are you a mushroom lover? Do you like garlic and spice? This creamy mushroom sauce always hits the spot. It’s great over meats such as pork or chicken and can also be served over pasta or rice. Flavorful, creamy, and rich, this sauce is both filling and satisfying anytime of year.
Creamy Mushroom Sauce Recipe
Ingredients
- 3 tbsp olive oil
- 8 mushrooms, sliced
- 5 cloves of garlic, thinly sliced
- Salt & pepper to taste
- 1/4 cup white wine
- 1/4 cup water
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- Hot pepper flakes to taste**
- 1 tbsp flour*
- Handful of fresh spinach
Directions
- Heat 2 of the 3 tablespoons of oil in a skillet
- Add the garlic and saute until fragrant, about one minute
- Add the mushrooms, salt, and pepper. Saute until the mushrooms are soft, stirring occasionally. Add the additional tablespoon of olive oil if needed
- Pour in the white wine and simmer until reduced, about 10 minutes
- Stir in the water, heavy cream, hot pepper flakes, and 1 tbsp of flour. Bring to a simmer for about another 10 minutes
- Toss in the handful of spinach, stir and cover. Simmer for about 5 minutes until spinach is wilted
- Serve over pork, chicken, rice, or pasta

Here are a few tips and other notes when making this mushroom sauce:
*Add in additional flour depending on how thick you like your sauce
**I usually add in a few grinds of my favorite hot pepper flakes. Regular ol’ hot pepper flakes are great too
